This year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day, observed on January 17, 2022, is the 27th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. It is also the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage Americans to volunteer and improve their communities.
Rather than taking a day off on this holiday, we urge you to make this a “day on” and perform an act of service. By learning how to STOP THE BLEED®, you are equipping yourself with lifesaving skills that can help you and those around you in the event of a bleeding emergency.
On this day, we also send and extra thank you to our STOP THE BLEED® instructors. The phrase “Words Matter, Actions Matter” fully describes what each instructor is doing to help create safer communities by spreading the message of bleeding control. Thank you for the work you are doing in your communities. Your work helps save lives and creates a more educated, informed, and empowered public.
Although many instructors have resumed in-person instruction, the current surge in COVID-19 has resulted in some instructors halting their in-person courses. Since we have begun offering the virtual course options (including the instructor-led virtual course or the online interactive course), we encourage you to participate in MLK Day of Service by offering an in-person course, hosting a virtual course, or spreading the word about STB by urging individuals to complete the online interactive course on the website. Additionally, you can help get the word out on social media by posting the below graphics with the #STOPTHEBLEED and #MLKDay hashtags. Let others know you can STOP THE BLEED® and direct them to www.stopthebleed.org for more information.
